About
Streamlined Thinking is a website mentoring service that specialises in websites and e-commerce for small businesses and sole traders. The business was created in 2009 by Dan Harrison to meet the needs of small businesses that want to have a presence on the web, but just don’t know where to start.
Who is Dan Harrison?
Well, that’s me! I’ve created and developed over 25 websites since 2003, and all of those sites have made me a good profit. All the experience I’ve gained in website development, search engine optimisation (SEO), website promotion, software testing (and loads of other stuff) comes from developing my own portfolio of successful websites. I still continue to develop my portfolio of websites, and so my skills and knowledge are growing all the time!
Through my experience of creating and running my own websites, I offer advice to people with a small business who want to develop their online presence into something special. My philosophy is all about being practical, i.e. creating a website that does exactly what you need.
You might have noticed the letters after my name on my email signature (Dan Harrison MEng MBCS). The MEng relates to my Computer Science degree from the University of Southampton. The MBCS means that I am a member of the British Computer Society (BCS).
Free Tips and Tricks from Dan’s Blog
If you want to get some great tips and tricks for free, you can read my blog DanHarrison.co.uk.
I typically write 2-3 articles a month where I share lots of useful information and resources. You can also get updates via email, just look for the big sign-up button.
My articles have helped people to boost their income. For example, here is some recent feedback about one of my articles on how to increased your Click-Thru-Rate (CTR) by changing the style of your call-to-action buttons.
After implementing Dan’s tips on my affiliate site sales have increased, overnight I earned £50 commission on 3 sales, since then the website has continued to grow in sales & conversions. An instant success.

It was your post about the buttons which spurred us on to refresh our range of buttons available on ECU. Our original selection were very outdated, but since introducing the ability to specify your own, we didn’t think it too important. What we didn’t realise was that affiliates on the whole were not making their own, and indeed using the ones which we provide.
Reading your post, gave us a reason to look at this and refresh our offering. Since the makeover, we have found the affiliates are keen to use them and since dropping them into ECU last week have seen around a 10-20% uplift in the CTR, for these units. Considering they were already performing at around 20% this is great.
So thank you for the inspiration to do something with this area. We’re monitoring the stats for the buttons in use, and will hopefully be able to report back our findings in due course. We’ve also added some extra tracking with the networks, so hoping that we should be able to report back on effective click to sale in time too.
